Meet Gunny: The Nose Behind This Pet Adventure Blog

Gunny, a high-energy Brittany Spaniel, mid-zoomie during an off-leash hike. Pure joy in a field of wildflowers.
Welcome Zeedayz, a dog hiking blog based in Tennessee, featuring yours truly, Gunny. I am your new go-to space for dog adventures, hiking with pets, and life with a very energetic Brittany Spaniel. If you’re a fellow dog parent, outdoor lover, or someone who just enjoys reading about quirky, four-legged hiking buddies, you’ve found your people.
Gunny is a purebred Brittany Spaniel, born in 2020, and she’s been my hiking partner and daily chaos coordinator since she was eight weeks old. She came into my life shortly after I lost my previous dog—a calm soul who could bring peace to any room. Gunny is the exact opposite: energetic, curious, goofy, and always on the move. And, oddly enough, she was exactly what I needed.
If you’ve ever hiked with a scent-driven dog, you’ll understand the struggle. What should be a simple one-mile walk can quickly turn into a two-hour sniffing expedition. Gunny’s nose catches every scent trail—she’s like a four-legged scent-tracking machine. Whether it’s squirrels, birds, or a snack wrapper from last week, she finds it. Brittanys are known for their exceptional hunting instincts and boundless energy, and Gunny lives up to both.
Socially, she’s got that classic Brittany shyness. She’s never shown aggression, but she’s slow to trust new dogs and unfamiliar people. That said, once you’re in, you’re in. Her circle of dog friends is small but loyal—kind of like an exclusive club for awkward, friendly weirdos.
The trail is where Gunny truly comes alive. She thrives off-leash, exploring dog-friendly hiking trails with her tail high and her nose to the ground. She checks in with me constantly, making sure I’m still behind her on the path (or, let’s be real, dragging behind while she leads the way). Our favorite dog hikes usually involve open fields, wooded trails, and as few people as possible—Gunny’s all about those serene solo missions.
Back at home, Gunny is a watchdog, toy enthusiast, and low-key comedian. Her favorite toy? A stuffed snake we call Snakie—a surprisingly durable creature who’s survived more tug-of-war battles than I can count. Gunny also takes her self-appointed job as neighborhood dog patrol very seriously. If you’re walking past our house, she’ll let you know she sees you—every single time.
My last dog had that “therapy animal” calmness. Gunny, on the other hand, is like having your own personal jester. She’s always doing something funny, weird, or just plain chaotic. Where one dog brought stillness, the other brought motion. And that’s why we call her Funny Gunny—she’s a walking comedy show, with the stamina of a marathon runner.
This dog lifestyle blog is all about sharing our adventures—whether that’s hitting new dog-friendly trails, reviewing dog hiking gear, or just chronicling the daily life of a Brittany Spaniel with a big personality. If you’re looking for a space that celebrates the humor, unpredictability, and joy of being a dog owner, especially one who loves the outdoors, you’ve found the right place.
